God's Name is Jehovah

For many reasons, this needs to be the first topic addressed in this blog. It is imperative that whether or not you believe in the trinity or in a singular God that is Almighty that it be known His name is Jehovah. This is a basic fundamental principle of understanding Bible truths. The Divine Name appears over 7,000 times throughout the scriptures. More than any other name in the Bible. This is no coincidence and it is of much importance. The Jehovah's Witnesses are not the only ones who promote and have true appreciation for this name.

The most popular Bible translation on earth is the King James. While it incorrectly renders the tetragrammaton 6,973 times it does get it right on 4 separate occasions. The reason for this is not known to me, I have not been able to find an explanation of it. However, the tetragrammaton appears in Psalm 83:18 and Exodus 6:3 just as it appears at Isaiah 42:8.

"That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth." - Psalm 83:18

"And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them" - Exodus 6:3

" I am Jehovah. That is my name" - Isaiah 42:8

Explicitly stated scripture makes this very clear: The name of the Most High is Jehovah. The name of God Almighty is Jehovah. God has told us point blank His name is Jehovah. To deny that is to deny explicit scripture. Sermantics can take us into many different places as far as statements such as "There is no J in the Hebrew language". True, but personally, I do not speak Hebrew so when I speak the name it must be translated into English. Yahweh would how Hebrew speaking people would pronounce the name. It is different in many languages, but ultimately, Jehovah is the most accurate rendering. The argument of "No J" seems to ignore the idea that Jacob, Joshua, Elijah, Jerusalem, and even Jesus all contain the letter J. There is no one that debates the accuracy of those names. Why would we do that with the divine name in which we are COMMANDED to use? Doesn't make sense!

Going forward I will refer to God as Jehovah and God's Son as Jesus. That is what the Bible says, I will follow what the Bible says. This has nothing to do with Jehovah's Witnesses, nothing to do with Jehovahists, or any other religious organization that acknowledges that name. It has to do with explicit scripture from the Bible.

Even more than scholars, religious organizations, or myself - Jehovah makes it clear how important knowing His name is:

"...my people will know my name" - Isaiah 52:6

There you have it. A qualification of knowing God, therefore, knowing the truth. There is no disputing this fact. If you do not know the name of God you cannot accurately be called one of His people. I am going to provide you some links to information that shows why God's name is Jehovah and how important it is that we know it and use it. If you have any doubts or wish to understand further I suggest you take the time out to look at the links.
